My relationship with the groom goes back to a friendship with his mother, Sonia. Sonia was a hair & make-up artist I worked with on several projects starting in 2018. Over the years, we developed a strong friendship, and got to know a bit about each other’s families.  In 2020, she shared with me that she had been diagnosed with brain cancer. During her battle, she moved back to Southern California to be closer to family, and Abel moved down to support her and care for her.  After a 3 year battle, she passed away.

Abel met Flor in 2023. Their first date almost didn’t happen, because he was nervous. The sign to go on the date was a drawing of a flower that Sonia had drawn prior to her passing. Flor means Flower in Spanish. And it was obviously a great date.
